Annual spring elections for Flathead Audubon officers and Board members will take place at the May general meeting. FAS elects officers for a two-year term, alternating with president and vice-president one year, and secretary and treasurer the next. This year we are holding elections for president and vice-president positions. Returning Board Members are Bob Lee, Carole Jorgensen, and Cindy and Tom Roberts. We have one candidate running for a Board position and one running for position as president. There are currently no candidates for vice-president.

Please give these nominees due consideration and come to the FAS annual meeting in May to vote, and enjoy a tasty potluck dinner and silent auction. Please consider running for the position of vice-president or as a Director as there is no limit to the number of Directors that can be on the Board.

President – Darcy Thomas – Running for President is Darcy Thomas who currently fills the  Vice Presidency for Flathead Audubon. Current President Cory Davis will transition to the Past President role.

Darcy worked as a Public Health/School Nurse for 33 years while raising her children in the Bitterroot Valley. Birding and wildlife watching was always a passion. Originally from Kalispell, Darcy returned here to live following her retirement. She was determined to join Audubon and contribute in a meaningful way. She served as a FAS Board member and co-chair of the field trip and newsletter committees. She has been the Bird of the Month Editor for the past three years. Darcy has participated in Citizen Science projects including Christmas Bird Counts, Long-billed Curlew, wetland waterbird, raptor, Great Blue Heron, owl, and Climate Watch surveys. She would love to serve as President for this active conservation and education organization, doing her part to keep Flathead Audubon Chapter strong and able to continue the great work done on the behalf of birds and wildlife.

Director Candidate – Linda Du Lac – Running for a Board of Director position is Linda Du Lac who has been serving on the Board in an interim position as a one year replacement. She is also Chairperson for the Membership Committee where she has shown herself to be enthusiastic, resourceful, and a joy to work with.

Linda Du Lac’s life has centered around nature and natural resources her entire life. Her degree in Resource and Recreation Management from Oregon State University led her to a career of 35 years with the U.S. Forest Service.  She has always carried a variety of ID books including one for birds during her outdoor adventures. After moving to the Flathead Valley her interest in birds increased to the point that she birds every day in her rural neighborhood, which is adjacent to the Swan River. You won’t see her without her binoculars and camera as she works her way down to the river. Linda loves people and technical challenges, which is a good fit for her as Membership Chair and as a member of the Flathead Audubon Board.

Vacant Officer Position – Vice President (no candidate running)
