Please join FAS field trip leader Darcy Thomas on Friday, April 21 from 8 AM until Noon. The group will hike the trails and view Jessup Mill Pond from a birding blind while we look for waterfowl. Expect to walk up to two miles on easy trails. The Creston National Fish Hatchery grounds provide a variety of habitats that are attractive to several species. While ducks are more typical on the ponds, the grounds offer a bubbling
creek, woodland edges and plenty of shrubs and trees. This is an excellent place to find early migrant songbirds,
Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, Belted Kingfisher, and American Dipper. We will also look for early blooms of native
plants. Dress warmly and bring binoculars. If you wish, bring a picnic lunch to eat at the picnic area at the end of the
field trip. Bathrooms are available. The trip is limited to 10 participants. For information and registration, contact Darcy at 406-407-8263 or darcy@flatheadaudubon.org.
