Finding More Birds in the Flathead

January 13 @ 7:00 PM 8:30 PM

Join us at our general meeting where Jake Bramante will discuss finding more birds in the Flathead Valley throughout the year!

With over 300 possible bird species to be found in the Flathead Valley, it can be an exciting place to find birds. The quest to find as many birds as possible in the Flathead isn’t just some vanity quest, but a great way to get to know birds, the valley’s many ecotypes, and how it all changes throughout the year. We’ll discuss winter birds, spring migration, food preferences, nesting, hot spots, and fall migration.

Join Jake Bramante, Flathead Audubon board member and bird nerd, as he takes us through the seasons and locations around the valley. You’ll walk away with some new strategies for finding birds in the slower times of winter, ways to find rarities, and an overall increased enthusiasm toward birding in our big, varied backyard!

Jake was raised in Northwestern Montana bordering Forest Service land where he spent many hours playing in and around with his younger brother. After college in Arizona, he moved back to Montana with a renewed passion for the outdoors, spending an entire summer hiking all of Glacier National Park’s trails. From that project, his interest in birds took off. He spends time hiking, climbing, birding, and volunteering with various citizen science efforts.

The meeting will take place Monday, January 13th. Our meetings are available both in person and virtually. For those attending the meeting in person on January 13th, we’ll meet in Room 26 of the Gateway Community Center at 7pm. This room is located on the east side of the building along Glenwood Drive. Look for our banner outside. If you want to join virtually email info@flatheadaudubon.org.
