Join the flock!

By Darcy Thomas

Flathead Audubon Society (FAS) does amazing work to protect birds, wildlife, and habitat in the
valley. Through advocacy, education, field trips, programs, and much more, we are a force
that builds awareness and concern for our natural environment. It takes a team to provide
the services that make FAS an effective organization. We would love to have you join our flock! Some of the programs we offer that need staffing are:

Education: It is an exciting time with Jess Garby beginning as our new Operations Education Coordinator. She is enthusiastic, full of ideas, and raring to go. This is a great time to beef up our education committee and help provide quality environmental education to school children, families, and adults in our community. You may assist Jess with developing new classroom and outdoor programs, expanding our reach throughout the valley, maintaining the learning kits, and assisting with programs and field trips. If you are interested in assisting with this important work, contact Cindy at cindy@flatheadaudubon.org

Newsletter: Sadly, this is the last newsletter that Geri will be editing. Susie Waldron is
continuing as the layout editor and needs a newsletter editor to gather and proofread
submitted articles and communicate needs with the board, contributors and printer. The
Pileated Post is one of the best newsletters in the Audubon world. Please join the flock to
keep it amazing. If you are interested in helping with this important work, contact Darcy at
darcy@flatheadaudubon.org.

Conservation: We are seeking an individual interested in following local environmental issues
that impact birds, wildlife, and habitat by monitoring meetings, hearings, rulings, and other
developments regarding issues identified by the Conservation Committee. If you are
interested in doing this important work, contact Gael at gael@flatheadaudubon.org.

Field Trip Leaders: Our field trips are free and open to the public. Our leaders are club
volunteers with a special desire to share their love of birds and special places. You do not
need to be an expert birder. Your love of birds and sharing that love with others is what
makes a good field trip leader. If you are interested in assisting with this important work,
contact Margaret at margaret@flatheadaudubon.org.
