With the excessive heat in the forecast, Flathead Land Trust decided to move their celebration of the permanent conservation of the Owen Sowerwine area inside. Over 100 people gathered to hear from Owen’s son, David Sowerwine, Carole Bibler, and many others. This collaborative effort couldn’t have been done without the partnership and efforts of Flathead Land Trust, Flathead Audubon Society, Flathead Lakers, the DNRC, Montana Audubon, and countless individuals with vision and determination who put untold hours in chipping away at what would become a historic achievement.

Special Conservation Leadership Awards were presented to Flathead Audubon and Montana Audubon by the Flathead Land Trust recognizing our collective efforts in managing the area and working to accomplish its permanent protection. Head on over to Flathead Land Trusts recap here to hear more about this wonderful evening.
