Field Trip Highlight: Hellgate Osprey Nest
Iris is one of the oldest-known ospreys in the world – about 30 years old! She is the star of the Hellgate Osprey Nest Camera, with millions of viewers all over the world. To the delight of all, she returned to her nest on April 7, 2025! In 2024, after several unsuccessful years with a different mate, she successfully raised two chicks- only time will tell what happens this year.
On this trip, we will visit Iris’ nest, and you will get a chance to see “behind the scenes” of a nest camera. This special tour will be led by two local raptor researchers who have been studying local Osprey and other raptors for decades.
