Welcome to the Owen Sowerwine, which has been designated as an Important Bird Area. This property is located off of Willow Glen Drive in Kalispell Montana, and is owned by the State of Montana for the benefit of the State School Trust. In December of 2023, Flathead Land Trust received approval from the State Land Board to purchase a Conservation Easement on this property. Flathead Audubon has been involved in the management of this area since 1996, and under the Conservation Easement and a Memorandum Of Agreement with DNRC (State Lands) and Flathead Land Trust, we will serve as the Third Party Cooperator to continue to assist in keeping this beautiful riverine land open to the public, used for Conservation Education, and functioning as critical habitat for birds and wildlife.
