LOWER FLATHEAD VALLEY BIKE AND BIRD
May 15 @ 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
A bird expert from Flathead Audubon and a land conservation specialist from Flathead Land Trust will co-lead the event on Saturday, May 15. The Flathead River to Lake Initiative is also sponsoring the field trip. We will bike and bird for about 10 miles along mostly paved roads in the lower Flathead Valley viewing existing conservation easements including those at Church and Wiley sloughs, the new conservation easement protecting Reed’s Slough, and the Somers Beach property that has been proposed to be a future state park. Following the tour, participants can picnic at Somers Beach or have lunch at Somers Bay Café. After lunch, participants can ride at their leisure about five miles on the bike path along Hwy. 93 back to the parking location. Group sizes for the tours will be limited to 15, so we will offer three tours with staggered start times (8:30 am to 11:30 am, 9:00 am to noon, and 9:30 am to 12:30 pm). If you are interested in participating, please register with Laura Katzman at Flathead Land Trust (email@example.com or 752-8293).
